Dare has better works.

This was awful. Not among Tessa Dare's better works (Girl Meets Duke is a good series if you're new to reading Dare's works).

Violet is staying in Spindle Cove after her supposed beau, Christian, left her suddenly after a night of passion. He left a single note, and otherwise appears to have no thought for her.

A year later, he returns, and wants Violet. But all isn't as it seems at first.

What's galling is that Christian doesn't have much to offer Violet. He has an explanation for why he left suddenly, but it lacks substance. It lacks verve. It lacks a person who is willing to commit to Violet. Violet has so much more to offer, that it feels like she's settling for the guy that ran without a solid explanation.

The book was a letdown for me. I hope to quickly forget the couple's gluey love.
